Toastmasters can provide the opportunities and experiences to help you achieve what you are looking for in a supportive enjoyable, and proven environment. Using time-tested methods to help individuals build up their communication and leadership skills, Toastmasters self-paced curriculum allows individuals to focus on areas of self-interest as well as receiving input from other members through constructive evaluations. Participants grow in knowledge, skill, and ability as they present prepared speeches or serve in various functionary roles in weekly or biweekly meetings.
Begin your new journey with Toastmasters help.
MEETING STRUCTURE: Meetings are broken into four sections and YOU choose when you want to participate:
Prepared Speeches: Sign up in advance to give a speech.
You pick the date and the topic! There are generally 2-3 prepared speeches each week.
Impromptu Speaking: Participate in "Table Topics."
Toastmasters are given a question related to the meeting's theme and a "mini-speech" response of 1-2 minutes is given. Guests are given the option to participate.
Evaluations: Evaluations will provide constructive feedback on what you did well in your speech and where you can improve.
This is a great way to learn how to do an evaluation at work!
Other roles include an "Ah/Um Counter," "Timer/Vote Counter"
and "Grammarian".
