An instructional camp where children will learn the  fundamentals of soccer, field hockey, basketball, T-ball, and football. The goal is for the kids to have fun and obtain exposure in all of the sports. Two (2) sports are  introduced each day. “Live-Game” situations will also be incorporated. A morning snack is provided.  An awards ceremony and pizza party will be on Friday!  Min 8/max 25




Camp Rancho - Aloha Summer Week - 9 am - 3 PM

Kick off the summer with this great camp, full of fun activities. This fun tennis program for Pee Wees is designed to build a good foundation of tennis skills. Creative techniques are used to teach basic fundamentals and help each child love the game. Music, soft “sponge” balls, and exciting games are all part of the weeks activities. Join Dave Rapp’s rewarding experience for your aspiring youth athlete. Rackets are available for $25 at camp. Join this camp on its own or if you are looking for more fun for your little ones after Pee Wee Tennis Camp. If coming from tennis, RSFCC staff will pick up the children from the tennis courts and bring them over to the Community Center. The staff will engage them in arts and crafts, group activities and sports. This is great preparation for those children who will be entering Kindergarten in the Fall. Please bring a snack daily. Become a Mad Science Jr Detective and take a fascinating journey into the world of detection, forensics and classified information. Learn code language to send secret messages as part of your mission. Go undercover and decode messages from other agents using your top secret clearance. Investigate a pretend crime scene and sift through clues to crack the case. Join the Mad Science Bureau of Investigation to gain observational skills that are necessary for the job. Following Sherlock’s footsteps to learn what tracks and trails can teach us! Take home projects include a detective kit, secret decoder, fingerprint kit and more! Min 10/max 30

Roundhouse Martial Arts uses the Shaolin Kempo system to teach kids to be physically fit, coordinated, flexible and to be self confident and in control of themselves. Led by Master James Wilbur, a 6th degree black belt, Roundhouse has been providing martial arts instruction in San Diego since 1992. Camp will consist of karate instruction, games, and a movie split over two classes. Min 4/max 12

Kahuna Bob’s Surf School will supply all surfing equipment, wetsuits, rashguards and soft surfboards as well as instruction both on the beach and in the water to assist with the learning process. At the end of the week, the campers will receive a KBSS T-shirt and a DVD of themselves and the other campers in action riding the wild surf. Bring water bottle, towel, hat, sunscreen and snack. Drop off and pick-up will be at Beacons Beach in Encinitas, off Leucadia Blvd. Min 6/max 15

Children will learn the basics of playing the guitar, while receiving a fun and kid-friendly introduction to the way music works. Kids will be introduced to concepts like harmony, melody, and rhythm. All campers will get a chance to try out different types of instruments, from drums and keyboards and of course, guitars. We’ll listen and learn about classical, folk, traditional, jazz, rock, and popular music. Kids will learn about the differences and similarities in the different music styles. Everyone will get a chance to sing and even write their own songs. This class will offer a well-rounded introduction to the basics of music theory, as well as additional instruction for advanced musicians. Min 5/max 15

Create a picture or tell a story by making tiles into mosaic designs. You will learn how to make mosaic art in all kinds of shapes - squares and triangles, stars and moons. Then you will glue, glue, glue and grout, grout, grout all the pieces into Masterpieces. You’ll learn how to make colorful mosaic designs, mirrors or drink coasters, flower pots or vases, and even a flat wall piece to hang in your room. This class will be a lot of fun, so sign up early. Reap the rewards of volunteering in your community and GET INTO THE SPIRIT OF GIVING! Feel good about helping others while making new friends. Volunteers will take a field trip each day and experience the joy of reading to Headstart preschoolers, cleaning up beaches and lagoons, packing canned goods at the food bank, playing Bingo with seniors at a convalescent center, making blankets for homeless children and posters for the Breast Cancer Walk. On Friday, the campers will build new bicycles for needy children in the community, and then end the week with an awards ceremony. School buses will provide transportation each day to different locations. Min 10/max 20

Let your creativity go wild with a wide variety of exciting elements, such as plaster, sand, wood, foam, fabric and various metals. Meet live exotic animals from distant deserts and tropical oceans, dissect an owl pellet, create an abstract bird house, sculpt with sand, splatter a canvas, paint with bubbles, build a volcano, grow crystals and even make ice cream! Become a junior Mad Scientist! This camp is a great introduction to science. Preschoolers explore their sense of sight, sound, smell, taste and touch. Children use a magnifying glass to discover the world of creepy crawlers. Explore the science of the sea and the fascinating creatures that live there. Campers become paleontologists by searching fossils and participating in a mini dinosaur dig. Finally, take an exciting mission with Mad Science to explore the planets, moons and stars. Take home projects include a rainbow catcher, binoculars, bug box, T-Rex tooth model and more! Min 10/max 30

Join John Taibe from Radical Reptiles and Friends as he introduces the children to a menagerie of live animals including snakes, lizards, frogs, toads, turtles, tortoises, tarantulas, bugs and other creepy crawlies. The goal of the European Multi-Sports Camp is for the student to participate in a wide variety of sports and activities. A low student to coach ratio, combined with individual and small group drills, will ensure that your child improves their skills in a fun-filled, challenging and positive environment. Activities includes soccer, track and field, team handball, paddle tennis, plyometrics, cricket, core strength and croquet, to name just a few. Join John Taibe from Radical Reptiles and Friends as he introduces the children to a menagerie of live animals including snakes, lizards, frogs, toads, turtles, tortoises, tarantulas, bugs and other creepy crawlies. Calling all pee wee artists to come explore the wonderful world of clay. Possible projects include imaginary environments, masks, treasure chests, creatures from the sea, and more! Students will learn how to create ceramic treasures while mastering control of their fine motor skills. Parents are welcome to join the class with their little one. Age appropriate tools and materials will be used. Make sure to wear clothing that can take getting messy! Min 8/max 25

This summer’s Children’s Community Theater production will be “The Wizard of Oz,” and everyone will get a part. Auditions will be held on Friday, August 1 from 9 to 11 am. Rehearsals will take place the following week, Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 2 pm. The performance for family and friends will take place Friday, August 8 at 1 pm. All performers will be responsible for their own costumes. Performers who are ages 6 to 8 years old with no previous community theater experience will be given supporting/chorus roles. Come join your fellow artists in an outdoor adventure! Learn how to draw landscapes, natural scenes and architecture by traveling around the RSF Community Center. In this session, you will learn how to capture the essence of a landscape or outdoor still life. Miss Ellen will show you the rules of perspective, sighting and how light constantly changes. We will start with small studies of natural objects using a variety of mediums including chalk pastels, oil pastels, watercolors and acrylics. We then will move onward to a complete landscape or outdoor still life! Don’t miss this outdoor adventure - space is limited. Min 8/max 25

Roundhouse Martial Arts uses the Shaolin Kempo system to teach kids to be physically fit, coordinated, flexible and to be self confident and in control of themselves. Led by Master James Wilbur, a 6th degree black belt, Roundhouse has been providing martial arts instruction in San Diego since 1992. Camp will consist of karate instruction, games, and a movie split over two classes. Min 4/max 12

Engineering Fundamentals with Legos™ Junkyard Challenge -

Your team will compete to design and build the fastest, strongest, smallest, largest, lightest, heaviest, most manuverable, most durable and coolest machines and structures to accomplish a variety of tasks. Success in the competition will necessitate construction of trucks, bridges, elevators, bulldozers, conveyor belts, and other motorized and alternatively powered contraptions to overcome obstacles. Familiarity with Lego™ Technic is desirable and can be obtained by attending FUNdamentals camp. Min 10/max 20

Ultimate Pee Wee Sports Camp - 9 am - 12 pm

An instructional camp where children will learn the  fundamentals of soccer, field hockey, basketball,
t-ball, and football. The goal is for the kids to have fun and obtain exposure in all of the sports. Two (2) sports are  introduced each day. “Live-Game” situations will also be incorporated. A morning snack is provided.  An awards ceremony and pizza party   will be on Friday!  Min 8/max 25
